The woman, identified as Ketki Srivastav, poured kerosene on herself around 12.30 PM. Seeing this, policemen rushed towards her and prevented her from doing anything further, senior police officials said.
"The woman has some dispute with other party. To mount pressure on policemen, she attempted self immolation. But no untoward incident occurred and she was safely rescued," SSP Dharmendra Singh said, adding that the matter is being investigated.
The woman alleged that yesterday night, four police personnel came to her house in plain clothes and snatched around Rs 40,000, a mobile and two gold rings from her.
According to the woman, her relative Ashish was recently arrested in connection with the loot that took place in Harsaon Village here on February 1.
