Police said the woman Ponmani (24) said her paretns gave 20 sovereigns of gold and Rs 60,000 as dowry to the family of her husband Jayaraman in 2010 before the marriage.
However, her husband and inlaws demanded Rs one lakh more and threatened to kill her if it was not given, following which she had lodged a complaint at Rajapalayam all-women police station.
But they had not taken any action sofar, she alleged.
Police intervened and prevented them immolating and assured to take action.
