The 1,271 cases include 69 of rape, 209 of kidnapping, 140 of dowry deaths, 428 of molestation, and 11 cases of trafficking, said Virendra Vikram Singh, joint director, Prosecution department.
He added that 411 cases under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and three under Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act are also pending in various courts.
Only three rape victims have been provided Rs seven lakh each, and Rs three lakh each were given in five dowry-death cases and to one accident victim under the UP government's Rani Laxmi Bai Mahila Samman Kosh scheme, said Jitendra Maurya, legal-cum-probation-officer, Juvenile Justice Board.
Around eight legal-aid clinics are being run in the district at various law universities, Mainwal said, adding, various senior-secondary schools are also helping DLSA in making children, especially female students, aware about their legal rights.
