The Women's World Boxing Championships beginning here on November 15 is set to see the highest ever participation in the flagship event with close to 300 pugilists from 70 countries taking part in the Indian Capital.
Boxers from 16 countries, including from Germany, USA, England, Ukraine, Panama, Australia, Thailand, Bulgaria and Somalia, are arriving early to get acclimatised to the Indian conditions.
Among the top boxers in the fray include India's Mary Kom, who is seeking her sixth world crown, and Italy's Alessia Mesiano in the feather weight category. The Italian, who won a gold in 2016, would look to repeat her performance once again.
Kazakh woman Nazyum Kyzaiba, with a gold medal in 2016, will also seek to retain here title in 51Kg.
2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Australian Kaye Scott, Peamwillai Laopeam of Thailand, Rio Olympics bronze medallists trio of Anastasia Beliakova of Russia, Nouchka Fontjin of the Netherlands and Ingrit Valencia Victory of Columbia are among the big names in the 10-day championships.
Finland's Mira Potkonen, who won a silver medal in Rio, will also be keen to put up a golden performance.
