Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti today asked officials to work on "mission mode" for successful completion of Centre's schemes including ambitious Namami Gange and river-linking projects.
Chairing a high-level meeting held here to review the progress of various schemes of the Water Resources Ministry, Bharti also asked officials to ensure adequate e-flow of rivers while approving designs of new dams.
"Bharti asked Ministry officials to work on a mission mode for successful completion of various schemes. During the meeting held to review progress of various schemes and programme of the Ministry, she exhorted officials to fulfill tasks assigned to them in the given time frame," the Ministry said in a statement.
During the meeting, the Minister underlined need for keeping the e-flow factor in mind while approving designs of new dams.
Bharti asked Central Water Commission to come up with some guidelines for e-flow, which she said, may also be a guiding principle for other countries.
The Minister also expressed concerns over depletion of ground water level in and around Puri in Odisha due to illegal activities of construction mafia and directed Central Ground Water Board to submit a report in this connection.
She also stressed on the need for achieving 100 per cent e-governance in the Ministry.
