Workshop to discuss environmental clearance norms on April 25

The Environment Ministry will hold a brainstorming session here on April 25 to discuss matters related to the process of issuing environmental clearance in the country.
The one-day workshop on 'Environmental Impact Assessment: Challenges in India and Way Forward' will be held at Vigyan Bhavan here on April 25.
"The workshop will also address the international trends in the field of Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) reports - which is required to obtain environmental clearance in India and the way forward for our country," an official statement said.
Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar will inaugurate the workshop which will take place at Vigyan Bhavan.

More than 250 participants are likely to attend the workshop from various parts of the country.
It will also be attended by senior officials of the Ministry, members of various Environmental Appraisal Committees at central and state levels, accredited EIA consultants, representatives of the industry and others.
"It will be a closed door meeting where all the best practices which are being adopted internationally will be discussed with various stakeholders," a senior official said.
The Environment Ministry has directed states and Union territories to start issuing environment clearances online. While online procedure is in place for obtaining environment, forest and wildlife clearances from the central government, the states and UTs have been asked to follow suit.
