Yavatmal tops in family toilet constructions in Vidarbha

Tribal-dominated district of Yavatmal has topped all districts in Vidarbha region of east Maharashtra in constructing toilets under 'Swatch Bharat Mission' in 2015-16.
"Yavatmal has completed the construction of 35,167 individual family toilets with the subsidy of Rs 12,000 each during 2015-16 and stood first in Vidarbha and fifth in the entire state. Ahmednagar tops entire state in this regard," said Chief Executive Officer R. Mallinath Kalshetti, Yavatmal Zilla Parishad.
The district has 4,52,289 families of whom 2,27,243 families do not have their own toilets.
"We have completed 35,167 toilets during the fiscal 2015-16 across 16 tehsils of which Babhulgaon tops the list with 3,545 toilets during the year and is now heading for the status of total families with toilets by May 2016," Kalshetti said.
