In yet another attack targeting police in Jammu, some unidentified persons beat up and injured a constable posted at the residence of a senior police officer.
Some miscreants, who came in two-three vehicles without registration numbers, attacked the policeman who was on guard duty at the residence of Superintendent of Police (Operations), Jammu in Trikuta Nagar area and beat him up with sticks last night, a police officer said.
The constable was injured in the attack and had to be hospitalised, he said.
He said that the miscreants were wearing masks on their faces.
"A case has been registered and investigations started to identify the culprits," he said.
This is the fourth attack on police in Jammu during last few days.
Earlier, some miscreants, during protests by sikh youth over removal of posters of slain Khalistani militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in Gadigarh area of Jammu, had stabbed Sub Inspector Arun Sharma and critically injured him on Wednesday last.
One Friday, constable Joginder Pal, Personal Security Officer (PSO) with Deputy Superintendent of Police (Jammu East) Mohammad Rafiq, was stabbed by some misreants during the protest by the sikh youth on Jammu-Pathankote highway at Digiana area and his AK rifle was snatched.
Another cop was also injured in such an incident in Ranibagh area on Thursday.
