The Youth National Conference today termed the new recruitment policy mooted by the PDP-BJP government as "anti-youth" and took out a rally in protest against it in Kathua district.
Led by the Provincial Youth National Conference President Surinder Singh Bunty, over 150 activists organised protest rally, during they chanted anti-government slogans and burnt effigy of the coalition government and sat on dharna in Kathua town.
They also alleged that the move was to commercialise and politicise the recruitment, which would be carried out through backdoor, by appointment of 'favourites' at the cost of deserving and meritorious candidates.
Addressing the protesters, Provincial Youth National Conference President Surinder Singh Bunty exhorted the cadre and youth to foil the sinister designs of the government, which has shown high degree of insensitivity by antagonising the educated unemployed.
"This is bound to boomerang on the face of widespread resentment among the youth," he added.
Bunty said National Conference will fight for the just cause of young people and won't rest till it is rolled back and suggested the government not to make it a prestige issue and stick to the old policy.
The YNC leader wondered over the need for bringing the new job policy when the State has a fool-proof mechanism in terms of Public Service Commission and Subordinate Services Selection Board, which are competent enough to make recruitment as per laid down norms and in a transparent manner.
He said that the move would encourage corruption at various levels which has the potential of demoralising and frustrating job aspirants.
