Police said Sharan (23) could not escape as in the impact of the crash power supply to the central locking system might have snapped rendering it ineffective and jamming the doors.
The incident took place around 5:30 AM when Sharan, who lived in Naraina Vihar, was on his way to a gurudwara in Das Garha village in his Honda City car.
"As he reached near Todapur in Inder Puri area, he lost control over the car and hit a roadside tree. The car caught fire soon after the incident and Sharan could not escape because its doors had jammed due to central locking," said a senior police officer.
According to Delhi Fire Services, they had got a call at 5:35 AM and they had sent one fire tender to the spot to douse the flames. Fire fighters pulled the man out of the car but he could not be saved.
Although Sharan could not be immediately identified but later police was able to establish his identity.
