19-year old Krishma of Voimedu village had fallen in love with her relative Sudhakar (21). As her family members opposed their relationship, the girl eloped with Sudhakar some months ago, married him and set up a home in Tiruppur.
A few days ago, Sudhakar had contacted Krishma's brother Thangavel and informed him that she had conceived. Thangavel asked them to return to the village assuring that they would be welcomed back into the family, police said.
However, when they arrived yesterday, a quarrel broke out between Thangavel and Sudhakar. Thangavel, along with two of his friends, allegedly attacked Krishma and Sudhakar with iron rods, killing them on the spot.
Thangavel and his friends fled the scene after the incident. Later, Thangavel and one of his friends surrendered before the local police who are on the lookout for the other person.
