Pakistan's former Test captain Mohammad Yousuf has agreed to join the new national selection committee that will take charge from April 1 under the chairmanship of Rashid Latif.
According to a reliable source in the Pakistan Cricket Board, Haroon Rasheed, a former Test batsman who has remained a selector and head coach and manager of the national junior and senior teams in the past, will also work as co-opted member of the selection committee.
Haroon is presently Director Game Development in the national cricket academy in Lahore.
"Rashid has discussed some possible candidates to work with him and he had recommended the name of Mohammad Yousuf who has been convinced to work as a national selector," a source said.
He said Latif had also agreed to the nomination of Haroon Rasheed as co-opted member.
"Rashid agreed with Haroon's nomination because he brings a lot of experience with him," the source stated.
The source said that Latif, a former captain, had also recommended the names of batsman, Wajahatullah Wasti from Peshawar and pace bowler, Shabbir Ahmed to work with him in the selection committee.
"Wasti's name has been approved but there is still some discussion going on over Shabbir's name as the name of batsman, Ali Naqvi has also been suggested but Rashid wants a bowler on his committee.
