Sub Inspector S S Ambre of Kalwa police station said that Baliram Balbim Bansode (29), a resident of Mahatma Phule Nagar of Kalwa, had allegedly abducted the minor sister of the accused Vishal Navle (19) some three years ago.
Nursing a grudge over it, Vishal and his friend Parya attacked Bansode yesterday with a chopper.
A badly injured Bansode was initially admitted to the Thane civil hospital here and later to the Sion hospital in Mumbai.
While Navle was arrested late last night, his friend was absconding. An attempt to murder case has been registered.
