The deceased identified as Ram Sahai, had an argument with his sister-in-law Saroj (24) yesterday over some issue after which he attacked her with an axe, Superintendent of Police Vijay Yadav said.
Later, he consumed some poisonous substance and informed the police about the incident, he said.
Ram Sahai was taken to the district hospital where he died, the SP said.
Saroj was also taken to the district hospital from where she was referred to Jhansi, he added.
