Youth extorts Rs 5 lakh from girl student, held

A 19-year-old hotel management student was today arrested here on the charges of extorting Rs 5 lakh from a female student, by threatening to post her objectionable pictures on Facebook, police said.
The accused, Aakash, had befriended the 23-year-old victim on the social networking site. He recently demanded Rs 5 lakh from her after threatening her that he would post her nude pictures on the social networking site, Chilkalguda Police Station K Srinivasulu said.
"The victim paid him Rs 5 lakh and later lodged a complaint with police, after which a case was booked under IPC sections 384 (extortion), 420 (cheating) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC against Aakash," the Inspector told PTI.

The accused was arrested and produced before a court, police said.
Further investigation into the case is on.
