Jai Prakash Pasi was found hanging from a tree in Rauhi village this morning.
During investigation, it was found that Pasi, who had eloped with his lover about a month ago, was allegedly lured back by her family yesterday. He was allegedly beaten up and strangled before being hanged to pass it off as a case of suicide, Superintendent of Police Pratip Kumar Misra said.
It was only after spotting a tattoo of the girl's name inked on his arm that police talked to her family and took four persons including her father into custody, he said.
The girl, whose marriage had been fixed, left her house where preparations for the wedding were on and both jumped before the train, the SP said.
The bodies have been sent for postmortem and investigation is on.
