Zinc prices fell by 0.54% to 137.80 per kg in futures trade today after speculators trimmed positions, tracking a weak global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in January month declined by 75 paise, or 0.54%, to Rs 137.80 per kg in business turnover of four lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in the December contracts softened by 70 paise, or 0.51%, to Rs 137.30 per kg in 185 lots.
Analysts said the weakness in zinc at futures trade was mostly attributed to a weak trend in copper and other base metals in the global markets on concern of slowing demand in China, the world's biggest consumer of industrial metals.
