Zinc prices drifted by 0.50 per cent to Rs 129.55 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions amid a weak trend at spot markets due to low demand.
However, the metal's strength at the London Metal Exchange (LME) capped the losses.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in current month shed 65 paise, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 129.55 per kg in a business turnover of 308 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in April edged lower by 55 paise, or 0.42 per cent, to Rs 130.35 per kg in 88 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall of zinc futures to sluggish demand in the spot markets but strength in select base metals at the LME, limited the loss.
