Zinc prices moved up by 0.87 per cent to Rs 209.10 per kg in the futures market today as participants built up fresh positions, driven by pick up in demand at the spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in June edged higher by Rs 1.80, or 0.87 per cent, to Rs 209.10 per kg in a business turnover of 399 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in May contracts was trading higher by Rs 1.65, or 0.80 per cent, at Rs 208.50 per kg in 1,284 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders backed by uptick in demand from consuming industries at the physical markets led to the upmove in zinc futures.
