Corrected (official) - India to raise rail passenger, freight fares ahead of budget

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - (Corrects date of rate increase)

India will raise rail passenger and freight fares effective June 25, the railway ministry's spokesman said.

Rail passenger fares will be increased by 14.2 percent and freight rates by 6.5 percent, Anil Kumar Saxena said.
