Police said they arrested at least 40 protesters of the regional Akhila Karnataka Yuvaka Parishad (All Karanataka Youth Council) when they tried to break in during a protest on the birth anniversary of nationalist leader Mahatma Gandhi.

Police rushed to overpower the volunteers who raised slogans against Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and fast food outlets Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) and Pizza Hut, both owned by PepsiCo.
