Chakraborty New Deputy Chairman Of Calcutta Port

Swapan Chakraborty, from the Indian Administrative Services cadre, has been appointed deputy chairman of Calcutta Port Trust (CPT). The Union governments order, appointing Chakraborty, reached CPT yesterday.

Chakraborty will now relinquish the charge of managing director of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation. He held the post for about one year.

Chakraborty will be based at Haldia and will be in charge of CPT Haldia Dock Complex.

H P Roy, who held the post of deputy chairman of Haldia Dock Complex, has already been appointed chairman of Hooghly River Bridge Commissioner (HRBC).

All the top posts of the port trust are now filled. The other recent appointments at the CPT include Aloke Chattapadhyay (traffic manager), Aloke Basu (terminal manager, shipping & clearing), Gautam Sen (director of marine department) and B K Roy (chief engineer).
