C P Jain, the finance director of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), tops the list of candidates selected by the Public Enterprises Selection Board for the post of chairman and managing director of the corporation. NTPCs project director Keshav Sharan has been placed second on the list.
Ten candidates had appeared for an interview for the post on April 17. The corporations present chairman and managing director, Rajendra Singh, whose term expires June-end, is said to be trying for an extension.
Arun Sahai, chairman of Scooters India Ltd, is emerging as the front-runner for the post of chairman and managing director of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. K G Ramachandran, director finance of the corporation, is considered a close runners-up for the post. Interviews for the post are to be held today. The present incumbent, R K D Shah, is expected to relinquish office by July-end.
