Japan To Move Wto Over Jakarta Car Policy

Japan's Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI) said Japan plans to file complaint with WTO over the issue "within a week or so", but Tokyo ruled out using trade or aid retaliation measures as a way to settle the dispute.
"There is a strong suspicion that Indonesia's national car policy contravenes WTO rules.
"We are very concerned, and we have been repeatedly expressing our fears to (Indonesia's) President Suharto," government spokesman Seiroku Kajiyama told reporters.
