Home-grown private equity (PE) firm ICICI Venture Funds Management Co. has elevated Prashant Purker as managing director and chief executive officer to replace Vishakha Mulye, who recently moved to parent ICICI Bank as executive director. Purker was earlier executive director at the PE firm. He has over 21 years of experience in global markets and a deep and varied experience in the Indian capital markets, across equity and debt instruments.

Prior to joining ICICI Venture, Purker served as managing director & head-global finance for India, with Nomura India and Lehman Brothers India, in the investment banking division. Earlier, he also spent over five years with ICICI Bank where his last position was head-global principal investment & trading group. Prashant has a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

ICICI Venture has funds across four verticals, including private equity, real estate, mezzanine finance, special situations and infrastructure. It is planning to raise about $500 million by 2016. Its special situation fund, Aion, was raised last year and has a corpus of $825 million.
