Saudi To Allow Direct Net Access

Saudi Arabia is to legalise the Internet in the kingdom and allow select local firms to provide direct access, a state science and technology official told businessmen. Saleh ibn Abdurahman al-Athel, head of the King Abdul-Aziz City for Science and Technology, said regulations governing Internet provision had been drawn up. Applications from companies interested in providing Internet services would be received from Saturday and close on June 3.
