After a steady start share prices firmed up yesterday on the Calcutta stock exchange (CSE) with ITC taking the lead on fresh buying. But several of them closed with on balance gains as the market is awaiting the final word on stability of the UF government .
Brokers said, the turnover in ITC was fair.. The 50-shares CSE index closed at 98.81 points, gaining 1.24 points over the last close. In the specified list, ACC closed at Rs 1,152.00, ITC at Rs 575.70 and Tata Iron and Steel company at Rs 131.50 while State Bank of India New finished at Rs 215.60, Reliance Industries Limited at Rs 160, Tata Tea at Rs 357.60 and Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company at Rs 310.40 with Bata pegged at Rs 124.80 and HLL at Rs 1,360. Larsen & Toubro was placed at Rs 184.20, CESE at Rs 33.95, Indo Gulf at Rs 38, Hindalco at Rs 836, Hind Motor at Rs 12.25 and IPCL at Rs 70.50.
In the non-specified list Balarampur Chini was taken at Rs 94.50, Bank of Rajasthan at Rs 42.00. ITC Classic was quoted at Rs 20.30, Master Gain at Rs 10.60, Rolta at Rs 15.50, I G Petro at Rs 16.50 and Woolworth at Rs 24.80.
