Weak conditions prevailed on the Delhi Stock Exchange (DSE) yesterday on profit selling by domestic financial houses and speculators and closed with small losses spread over a wide front. However, shares of select multinationals managed to retain some ground on foreign institutional investors buying.

The DSE sensitive index shed 1.07 points to settle at 866.23 points. Brisk buying by financial houses and speculators, prices continued to move up subsequently, profit sellers dominated the market and offloaded part of their fresh positions at higher levels.

Marketmen said activity in RIL shares was notable on brisk buying and selling by operators due to the companys board meeting today to consider a bonus shares issue. ACC shares which were the centre of buying turned weak on heavy profit selling by operators and closed a shade lower at Rs 1320, though it shot up to touch recent new high of Rs 1353. Some 66 lakh RIL shares were transacted on alternate bouts of buying due to expectations from todays board meeting. PTI
