Sonia To Visit Riot-Hit Village
The Congress president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, will be visiting the Kolar district in Karnataka, where seven dalits were burnt alive in a caste flare up last Saturday, tomorrow.
According to official sources here, Mrs Sonia Gandhi will be accompanied by the Karnataka Chief Minister, Mr S.M. Krishna, and the Home Minister, Mr Mallikarjuna Kharge, during her visit to Kambalapally village, where the incident took place, and the nearby Chintamani town.
The Karnataka government had ordered a CBI probe into the incident yesterday. The Govt had dropped its earlier decision to order a judicial inquiry after persistent demand by Opposition parties by the CBI.
