ISL 2018-19: Ogbeche scores in NorthEast United's 2-0 win over Pune City

The win sends NorthEast United to second spot with 17 points from eight games while Pune are in the eighth spot with five points from nine games

Minute 85 -- Adil finds Ashique on the right who bolts through the NorthEast defence. The goalkeeper and two other defenders come and try to crowd out Ashique who puts in a loww cross inside the box but it's easily cleared

Half-time report:  NorthEast United FC lead FC Pune City 1-0 at half-time at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune, courtsey a 23rd-minute goal by French forward Ogbeche.

 

Ogbeche scored from a corner after the cross at the near post from right was headed over to the far post where he poked the ball past everybody and into the back of the net.

 

But the home team, FC Pune City, should have had at least one goal of their own, given the number of fine chances they created, especially late in the half. First, in the 38th minute, Robin Singh was at the receiving end of a perfect cross inside the box and tried to hit it on the volley but Pereira did well to block the shot out for a corner.

 

They again came close to scoring in the 41st minute when Pune got a corner and Mill's header destined to find the back of the net but the NorthEast defence and the goalkeeper somehow kept the ball out amid the scramble.

 

NorthEast could have scored their opener in the 21st minute itself when a speculative ball from left found Ogbeche at the near post whose toed touch nearly trickled inside the left corner but Kamaljit wonderfully tipped it away.

Minute 41 -- Amazing escape for NorthEast United! Pune get a corner and Mills gets his head to the ball that seems destined to find the back of the net but the NorthEast defence and the goalkeeper somehow keep the ball out amid the scramble

Minute 38 -- Robin Singh gets a perfect cross inside the box and tries to hit it on the volley but Pereira does well to block the shot out for a corner

Minute 34 -- Sahil puts in a great bend on the ball with Hume chasing the cross inside the box but the striker fails to get past the onrushing goalkeeper

Minute 23 (GOAL!!) -- Ogbeche scores!!! 1-0 for NorthEast. The visitors score from a corner. The corner kick is at the near post from the right and is headed over to the far post where Ogbeche pokes the ball past everybody into the back of the net to make it 1-0!
