Chennai, on the other hand, now have two defeats in as many matches, but they have got their first goal of the tournament so they can take some inspiration from that to bounce back. FULL TIME.

The Chennai defenders fail to deal clearly with a Goa attack in the right channel and a pass is slipped inside the box which finds Coro at the far post, leaving him with a simple tap-in

Half-time report: It's half-time at the Marina Arena in Chennai with the visitors Goa leading 1-0, courtsey a fine team move that Edu Bedia scored from.

 

Goa started the half strongly, stringing together passes that the Chennai players had no answer to, so it wasn't a surprise when Bedia received a cut-back into the box and drove his effort low into the bottom left corner to make it 1-0.

 

Chennai started growing into the game only after the quarter of the match was complete, with players going for rough challenges on each other and the referee brandhising the card.

 

The home team created multiple opportunities during the later phase of the half, much of which came from cutbacks from the byline. Thapa missed a couple chances while Gregory Nelson's low-driven shot narrowly missed the target.

 

Tempers flared up as the clock kept on ticking and the referee had to give three additional minutes. There certainly is much more left in the game and Chennai would keep pushing for that equaliser while the visiting team would want that second insurance goal as soon as possible
