An immaculate bowling performance from Lucknow Super Giants coupled with a very lacklustre batting by the Kolkata Knight Riders handed the former a 75 run win over the latter at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
Chasing a target of 177, the Knight Riders never got going and apart from a belligerent 45 off 19 balls by Andre Russell, no other batter was able to stay at the crease and contribute. As a result, they were all out for 101 in the 15th over to lose the match by a huge margin.
Avesh Khan and Jason Holder picked three wickets each for the Super Giants while Mohsin Khan, Dushmantha Chameera and Ravi Bishnoi, the other three bowlers used, had a wicket each to their name as well.
Earlier in the evening, after being asked to bat and losing skipper KL Rahul in the first over itself, Deepak Hooda and Quinton de Kock got Lucknow to a great start as they added 71 for the second wicket. However, things slowed down post their dismissal.
And if it wasn’t for 30 runs of the 19th over by Shivam Mavi, Lucknow could have been well below 160 in setting up the total. In the 19th over, Mavi was hit for five sixes, three by Stoinis and two by Jason Holder.
