Player Battle: Pardeep Narwal vs Mohit Chhillar
Pardeep Narwal has had a great start to season 6, scoring 46 raid points from his 4 matches including 3 super 10s. Patna have won 2 and lost 2 of those 4 matches and sit on the bottom of Zone B. This could, however,r change if they perform well in their upcoming home leg. Jaipur’s Right corner, Mohit Chhillar has overcome a sluggish start in PKL 2018 and performed excellently in their last match against Pune. He was just 1 short of a HIGH 5 against Pune scoring 4 tackle points in as many attempts. Pardeep Narwal has the third-best average raid points (11.5) in PKL 6 by any raider and is on track to reach 700 raid points in PKL. He is 29 raid points away from 700 raid points mark. However, he has struggled against right corners in particular, and has a combined head to head record of 3-9 against the three right corners he has played against. This has been one of the main reasons Patna have lost 2 matches. Pardeep leads the overall head to head 4-3 against Mohit, but Mohit will be looking to take advantage of Pardeep’s poor head to head vs right corners this season and add to it.
How Patna’s support raider helping Pardeep Narwal
In PKL 5, Monu Goyat was always there for Patna Pirates to revive Pardeep Narwal. The combination of a left-side raider in Pardeep and right-side raider in Monu Goyat made Patna a deadly raiding team. This year, Pardeep Narwal’s support raiders have been Deepak Narwal and newcomer Manjeet. Manjeet has been the second best raider for Patna with 20 raid points with Deepak Narwal not far behind with 17. But Deepak Narwal and Vijay have got more than half their raid points from Bonus Points. As a result, their raid strike rate is good, but the Bonus Point does not bring about revivals and they haven’t been able to bring about revivals frequently enough. Manjeet has been a bright spark. He has a raid strike rate of 125 in Do or Die Raids. In comparison, Deepak Narwal’s Do or Die strike rate is 33 while Pardeep is just 20. This has helped Patna average 23.8 raid points per match in PKL 6 which is second only to Bengaluru Bulls
