On September 12, Apple, a Cupertino, US-based technology giant announced the next generation iPhone X-series, with iPhone XR being the most affordable smartphone in the series. The XR edition shares most of its specifications with elder siblings, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. However, being a cost effective proposition in the current Apple smartphone line-up, the XR trades off some of the premium goodies such as OLED screen, steel frame, dual camera module on the back, etc. Priced at Rs 76,900 for the base model with 64GB of internal storage, the iPhone XR will go on sale in India from October 26.

However, before iPhone XR sales begin, global search engine and technology giant Google also unveiled its Pixel 3-series. Named the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, the prices of these premium smartphones start at Rs 71,000 and Rs 83,000, respectively. Last week, we asked our readers to give their opinion about their choice of premium smartphone, and their mandate has been in favour of the Apple iPhone XR.

iPhone XR features, specifications and price in India

The iPhone XR sports a 6.1-inch LCD screen of 1792 x 828 resolution. According to the company’s claim, the display supports wide colour gamut with colour management system. The screen supports tap to wake feature and Apple True Tone technology, which uses six-channel light sensor to subtly adjusts the white balance onscreen to match the colour temperature of the surrounding light. In terms of imaging, the iPhone XR features a 12-megapixel camera on the back with f/1.8 aperture size and wide angle lens. The camera is backed by optical image stabilisation. It is also capable of taking 4K videos at 60 frames per second. The camera now supports stereo audio in video recordings. On the front, there is a 7MP TruDepth wide angle lens of f/2.2 aperture size. The camera module supports smart HDR, portrait lighting and Bokeh. The phone also records videos with stereo audio.

The iPhone XR will be available in three storage configurations – 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. In India, the price starts at 76,900. The phone will be available in six colours – Yellow, White, Coral, Black, Blue and Red.
