Astha launches Linux distribution

Jalandhar-based IT company Astha Computers has launched a Linux 3D operating system while claiming to have more advanced features than Microsoft Windows.
 
Rishi Kalra of Astha Computers said: "It is a new kind of operating system for computers with Pentium 4, Dual core or Core 2 Duo processors with minimum 512 MB of RAM and DVD drive. The operating system comes on a DVD and includes motherboard drivers, office softwares, games, graphic softwares and multimedia packages. The operating system gets installed within 30 minutes."
 
He said that the operating system included Open Office which could also save files in PDF format.
 
"You can use all your existing Windows data and files in Astha Linux," he said, adding that the introductory price had been kept at Rs 3,000.
