Australia-based graphic design platform Canva has announced its entry in the Indian market, with India specific design elements and themes anticipating the upcoming festival season. An online design platform catering to needs of social-media  and worksphere related graphics and design, Canva offers a free sign-up, with paid registration for some of the premium tools.

Speaking to Business Standard, CEO & Co-founder of Canva, Melanie Perkins said, "We would like to allow users complete freedom in customising their works, while making the designing process as simple as possible, as opposed to the more complex operations in softwares like Photoshop and InDesign". Perkins also said the new India specific designs and the introduction of Devanagari script, are only the first step in the online design engine's attempt at catering to the specific needs of the Indian designers, and further modifications would be introduced in their info-graphic tools.

With Indian market conducive to start-ups and online design tool, it will be interesting to watch how users conventional softwares like InDesign, Photoshop, Quark etc, respond to Canva, which has already established markets across 170-plus countries.
