Meizu, one of China’s top ten smartphone makers entered the Indian market on Wednesday, with the launch of its flagship phone. Priced at Rs 19,999, the MX5 was made available in India through online sale exclusively on e-commerce site Snapdeal.

With an all-metal body, the MX5 has a 64-bit Helio X10 octacore processor and uses its own operating system, OS Flyme4, which is a customised version of Android 5. At present, only the 16GB variant of the phone is available in India.

Supporting fourth-generation (4G) services, this phone has a 3GB RAM, 20.7 megapixel (mp) rear camera and a 5MP front camera. It has a 3150 mAh battery, equipped with the company’s mCharge technology that allows it to charge up to 25 per cent in 10 minutes, and 50 per cent in 30 minutes.

Meizu Vice-President (marketing) Li Nan said after unveiling the phone in New Delhi: “Our focus in India will be to provide future-ready products that are ahead of competition in both design and performance.”

The company plans to open 40 customer service centres across 20 cities. After-sale service will be another key focus area for Meizu, Li added.
