In a bid to beef up plans to extend its presence in Gujarat, Geodesic is launching GeoAmida, a Linux-based integrated mobile-micro computer in the state.

The company expects GeoAmida to reach out to all major public and private sector developmental projects in the state, through Geodesic's IT solution providers network.

According to Pankaj Kumar, chairman of Geodesic Ltd., GeoAmida offers a reliable and efficient last mile solution to reach the masses, enabling service providers to biometrically identify customers, deliver multiple services remotely and securely, and function efficiently in the remotest parts of the world.

GeoAmida technology platform is expected to enable government, financial institutions, NGOs and enterprises to offer and deliver sophisticated services to the customer base scattered across remote areas, to open up new markets and to create fresh opportunities.

GeoAmida has been well accepted by the industry as an integrated handheld computing platform to overcome last mile delivery challenges.

Moreover, Geodesic has successfully deployed close to 1,500 devices across different projects, including clients like Source trace, Fullerton India, HCL, and Goldyne, among others.

"We plan to work with system integrators and other solution providers in Gujarat to serve various public and private sector projects such as financial inclusion, public distribution system, social welfare project like NREGA, healthcare, banking and financial services — financial inclusion for the rural community, e-logistics and other e-governance projects," said Kumar.

With the micro finance market itself in Gujarat being estimated at over Rs 6,000 crore, GeoAmida has tested solutions to reach the unbanked such as branchless banking, micro finance, and pigmy collections.

Apart from the handheld computing platform, GeoAmida, Geodesic offers other solutions for instant messaging, voice-over-IP and internet radio.
