Micromax launches the 'thinnest ever' Canvas Sliver 5 at Rs 17,999

Claims it is the slimmest (end-to-end) and the lightest (97 grams) phone ever; Hugh Jackman is endorsing it

Micromax, world’s 10th largest mobile phone vendor, on Thursday, announced the launch of its latest flagship smartphone – the Canvas Sliver 5, in New Delhi.

With a thickness of 5.1 mm (end-to-end) and weighing a mere 97 grams, the Canvas Sliver 5 is claimed to be the world’s slimmest and the lightest 4G smartphone by the company.

With a distinct metallic frame made from aircraft grade aluminum and a matte finish, the smartphone is designed and adorned to attract the ‘smart users’.

Australian actor Hugh Jackman has been roped in to endorse the phone. The Hollywood star will soon be seen in a high-end commercial for the Canvas Series, taking ahead Micromax’s promise of ‘Nothing like Anything’ experience.

Commenting on the launch, Vineet Taneja, chief executive officer of Micromax Informatics Pvt. Canvas Sliver 5 is powered with Dirac HD sound and NXP Smart Power Amplifier. It comes with a 4.8-inch AMOLED HD Screen and the display provides a 16.7 million colour depth catching every colour in its brilliant and spectacular form. Power packed with a 1.2 Ghz Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Quad Core processor and a 2GB DDR3 RAM, the smartphone ensures efficient multitasking. The smartphone comes with a 16 GB ROM which is not expandable, as compared to other smartphones in the market. The device has an evenly placed 8 MP AF rear and a 5 MP front camera with SONY IMX219 sensor, 4P Largan Lens and Blue Glass Filter. It runs on Android Lollipop 5.0 and has a 2000 mAH high density Lithium Polymer battery.

The Canvas Sliver 5, priced at Rs 17,999 comes with a free 4G SIM and double data offer from Airtel which doubles the 4G data amount for any consumer activating the 4G SIM. The device will be available from end of June 2015 across India.
