Startup company, Livares Technologies has today launched an Android application called ‘Phone Away’ that will let users convert their smartphone into a remote control. By using the ‘Phone Away’ application, users can access contents on their phone from another mobile phone or pc. The application can be downloaded for free from Google Play. Click here

To use 'Phone Away', the user will need to register on the application with an alternative mobile number which will be used to get details from the original phone. Apart from this, appropriate communication channel ie SMS, email or both, also needs to be fed in to facilitate communication. Once installed, Phone Away will keep running in the background. Users can then start using their phone as a remote control device by giving a specified number of missed calls (one or more defined by the user) or by sending specific SMS command to the phone, complete with user-defined passcode for authentication.

This will then 'activate' the application - and internet connectivity will be switched on (using WiFi or GPRS/3G) automatically to facilitate communication, a press statement said.

The application can be used to perform a host of functions. Users can access the contacts directory from the phone. Users
can even locate a lost phone that is set on silent mode by activating the remote-ringer capability. Another major feature of the application is its ability to pin-point the phone's location using its GPS and send the location to the user. This would help inlocating the mobile phone, when lost.

One of the major point of concern with most applications is its battery consumption. This problem has been address with Phone Away. It is power-efficient and does not consume a lot of battery life. This, mainly beacause it activates and uses features like wifi or GPRS/3G only when needed and also turns it off automatically after use.

“We are very much delighted to introduce PhoneAway. The new app will definitely act as a good friend to the user while they are on the move. PhoneAway is a utility app available now in android platform offering a simple yet feature rich experience for users to access their phones remotely, said Jaseel Abdul Rafeek, Chief Innovation Officer, Livares Technologies.

The company, which is a brainchild of enterprising, young entrepreneurs who are out to make a difference, is based primarily in Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram  and Startup Village, Kochi. The company is already a pioneer in web based  services development, mobile application development and VoIP based services development and is on its way to becoming a major player in the mobile and web space with more such innovative applications in the offering.
