Panasonic aims to capture 8% smartphone market share in India

The phone, which runs Android Jelly Bean, is among a few high-end models with a dual SIM slot

Electronics product company Panasonic today said it aimed to capture eight per cent market share in the country's smartphone segment within a year.

The company today launched its first quad-core smartphone, the Panasonic P51, for Rs 26,900.

The phone, which runs Android Jelly Bean, is among a few high-end models with a dual SIM slot.

The phone is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core processor and features a 5-inch screen.

It has 4 GB of onboard storage which can be expanded via a microSD card.

The phone has an 8 megapixel primary camera, with a flash and a 1.3 MP front camera.

Expanding range
Panasonic will also expand its smartphone range.

"The series will come power-packed with features and will cater to the consumers across the spectrum - from mid-tier to the premium class," Manish Sharma, managing director of Panasonic India, said.

This phone will be available across national retail chain stores, multi-brand outlets and distributors across India.
