TCL & Alcatel Mobile Phones will launch CDMA phones globally in August this year.

Dinesh K Kumar, country manager""India & Bangladesh""TCL & Alcatel Mobile Phones said, India along with China and the US were focus markets for the CDMA launch.

For the Indian market, the company would import handsets from China. TCL & Alcatel had manufacturing facilities in France, Mexico and China. The Chinese manufacturing facility had a capacity for 50 lakh handsets, which would augmented further.

Kumar said, the company had not yet set a target for the CDMA phones in India and would set a sales target, six months after the launch. Kumar said, TCL & Alcatel could make an entry into CDMA phones with Tata Indicom.

However, CDMA was not the only focus of the company in India. TCL & Alcatel would launch 3G and EDGE compatible phones on the GSM platform in August. The company plans to sell nine lakh GSM handsets in India. Both CDMA and GSM phones would be imported from China.
