As part of its strategy to build global delivery capabilities, Wipro Technologies will open a software development centre in Atlanta.Wipro is in the process of choosing a location in metro Atlanta for its first development centre in Georgia, and the new facility will help it hire skilled workers and domain experts critical to its growth plans in the US.The Atlanta facility will hire more than 200 people in the first year, and is expected to employ over 500 by the third year of operations, a Wipro release said. Wipro will also set up a training centre in Atlanta to provide both technical and soft-skills training to its employees and plans to sponsor their higher education."We are proud that Georgia can offer the top-notch technology workforce and other business assets Wipro is looking for to grow its presence in the United States," Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue was quoted as saying in the release."The work we're doing requires more and more knowledge of the customers' business and you want local people to do that," said P R Chandrasekar, president, Wipro Technologies.
