California-based maker of digital programmable logic device (PLD) Xilinx Inc is betting big on telecom and defence in India.
The PLD market, one of the fastest growing segments of the semiconductor industry, grew 48 per cent in 2010 to $4.9 billion and is projected to reach $6.6 billion by 2013. “There is a huge opportunity,” Moshe Gavr-ielov, president and CEO of Xilinx, said inaugurating the new premises at Hitec City here on Tuesday.
Xilinx has its largest R&D centre outside of its US headquarters here, with 400 engineers working for its core field programmable gate array platforms. The new office is spread across 131,000 sft.
