A national e-APMC market is set to become operational on the 129th birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on April 14, finance minister Arun Jaitley announced in the Parliament on Monday, while presenting the Union budget for 2016-17.
He said that 585 spot mandis connected to the Agricultural Produce Markets Committee (APMC) would be connected through this new electronic platform, which may be enhanced with state’s amendment of APMC law.
So far, 12 states have already amended their APMC laws, Jaitley added. This is expected to benefit farmers for their better realisation of their farm output and avoid distress sale.
