BaaS makes it cheaper to run the vehicle by paying the monthly outgo for the battery and the charging costs as compared to buying fuel for a vehicle with an internal combustion engine (ICE). For instance, under a plan offered by Bajaj Finance, a consumer who runs his vehicle for 1,500 km every month, will fork out Rs 5,250 for the battery and another Rs 1,000 for charging over the eight-year life of the battery. That is still far lower than the Rs 10,500 worth of petrol needed to cover 1,500 km, assuming fuel efficiency of 14-15 km to a litre. A petrol car would however go on for 15 years, should you want to retain it.
