With the acquisition of Flow-Chem Technologies (Flowchem), which includes two blending facilities in the US, specialty chemicals producer Dorf Ketal expands in oil & gas upstream market

Dorf Ketal, the Mumbai-headquartered global specialty chemicals manufacturer specialising in the oil & gas industry, has acquired the US-based Flow-Chem Technologies Llc (Flowchem). Flowchem is a speciality oilfield chemical provider that operates across Gulf of Mexico and US onshore market with blending facilities located at Rayne (Louisiana) and Pleasanton (Texas) in US and multiple warehouses.
 
Explaining the significant of the company’s presence in upstream and downstream oil & gas markets, Subodh Menon, founder & director - operations & business development, Dorf Ketal, commented, “The acquisition provides a ready conduit through existing contacts to introduce Dorf Ketal’s differentiated technologies to accelerate entry into the US upstream market. There will be manufacturing and supply chain synergies to increase cost competitiveness in the challenging oilfield market. We will aggressively seek supply chain efficiencies, provide infrastructure support and laboratory facilities to improve cost competitiveness and help retain and acquire customers in this challenging market sector.”

David Johnson, president, Dorf Ketal Oilfield Chemicals, said, “Flowchem’s portfolio of oilfield production and drilling products will be combined with Dorf Ketal’s  products currently servicing offshore fields in Brazil to improve capabilities of both entities.” 
 
Ken Marks, president, Flowchem, added, “This partnership with Dorf Ketal will allow Flowchem to grow and extend our infrastructure in North America. It provides access to Dorf Ketal’s innovative chemistries and R&D capabilities that will enhance our competitiveness and increase profit improvement solutions for our customers.”
 
Dorf Ketal has been consolidating its position in the oil refining and petrochemical segments with a series of acquisition in the recent times. In January this year, the company acquired Filtra Catalysts and Chemicals Ltd, which manufactures adsorbents and catalysts for downstream hydrocarbon industries such as oil refineries, petrochemicals and fertiliser plants.
