Lucknow Super Giants played a perfect game on a slow wicket as they beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets, chasing down 122 with four overs left. 

 

Knowing that the wicket was two-paced, Lucknow went all-out attack in the chase as defending on this wicket would be a troublesome prospect. Though Kyle Mayers and Deepak Hooda went back into the hut quickly, KL Rahul added 55 with Krunal Pandya. 

 

While Rahul scored 35 off 31 balls before getting out, Pandya made an impactful 34 off just 23 balls to close the game quickly before being caught behind the wicket. Adil Rashid picked two wickets for Hyderabad. 

 

Earlier in the evening, after winning the toss and deciding to bat first Sunrisers never looked in the game. They were just not able to deal with the spin of Krunal, Amit Mishra and Ravi Bishnoi. Among them, the three spinners picked six wickets, with Pandya getting three. Abdul Samad’s late hits got Hyderabad to 121/8 in 20 overs. 

 

This is now the second loss for Hyderabad in the second row while it is Lucknow’s second win in three games.

Yash Thakur was introduced to bowl the 18th over and he has removed a set Rahul Tripathi with a bouncer. The batter wanted to guide the ball past the short third where Amit Mishra was standing. It was not expected that Mishra will catch it. But he did by diving to his right.

Anmolpreet Singh was beaten by a slower-length ball from Yash Thakur and it hit him near his waistline while he was bending down to pull the ball. The umpire called it out leg before wicket and Anmol took a review very late, almost in the last second. In the review, it showed that the ball would have gone on to miss the stumps because of height.
