How did the Indian chase go?

 

India entered a consecutive fifth Under-19 World Cup final as they beat hosts South Africa in the first semi-final of the U-19 World Cup 2024 by two wickets at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on Tuesday, February six. Sachin Dhas hit 96 off just 95 balls and missed out on his second century of the tournament as he started the counterattack for the team in blue water they were reduced to 36/4 in the first 12 overs, chasing 245 for victory. 

 

Dhas was ably supported by skipper Uday Saharam who too missed his second century in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2024. He was run out for 81 when just one more runs were required to win the match. The duo added 71 for the fifth wicket, which is the highest fifth-wicket stand in the history of U-19 World Cup cricket.

 

The hosts didn't give up easily too as Kwena Maphaka got Dhas out and built pressure on India which saw three more wickets fall, two of which were run out. But in the end, it was not enough as they fell short eventually. Tristan Luus picked three wickets alongside Maphaka, as no other Proteas player was able to get a wicket.
