The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted multi-city searches in Rajasthan as part of a money laundering investigation into alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Centre's 'Jal Jeevan Mission' in the Congress-ruled state, official sources said.
A number of premises belonging to engineers, contractors and some former state government officials in Jaipur, Alwar and a few other cities are being searched, they said.

In a major reshuffle of the bureaucratic level in the Union government on Thursday, the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointments of several bureaucrats in the various Ministries, Departments, and organizations. Vumlunmang Vualnam, IAS, Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation Vice Rajiv Bansal, IAS upon his superannuation on Thursday.

The Congress on Friday alleged the GDP numbers released for the first quarter of the current fiscal are overstated by a full percentage point because of the price deflators used. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh also said that going by the present trends, the growth for 2022-23 may hover around 6 per cent. With growing inequality, even this "disappointing GDP growth of 6 per cent" will not lead to rising incomes for the vast majority of Indians, he stressed.

In a major relief to LPG consumers, Public sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have slashed the price of 19 KG commercial LPG gas cylinders by Rs 158, according to ANI report. The new prices will be effective from today and Delhi's retail sales price of 19kg commercial LPG cylinder will be Rs 1,522. Earlier, on the eve of Raksha Bandhan, the price of Domestic LPG was reduced by Rs 200 by the central government as a gift to women of the country.
